We are thrilled to share the success story of one of our Darko Institute graduates, Silvester Oduro. With his hard work and dedication, Silvester recently secured a position as a Network Engineer. In this interview, he shares his passion for problem-solving and technology and how his time at Darko Institute prepared him for his current role. Read on to learn more about Silvester’s journey and his valuable advice for current Darko Institute students.
DI: Tell us about yourself.
Silvester: My name is Silvester Oduro, and I obtained my AS degree in Computer Science from Georgia State University in December 2019. I currently hold a Network Systems Engineer position at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
DI: What made you want to become a Network Engineer?
Silvester: During my childhood, I found pleasure in solving problems, which coincidentally is the primary aspect of network engineering. As a network engineer, I get to utilize my creativity in devising innovative solutions to the various challenges that arise. Additionally, I have a strong interest in technology, and networking engineering provides me with extensive opportunities to explore and use various technological tools.
DI: When did you attend Darko Institute, and how did our training help you secure your current position?
Silvester: I was a student at Darko Institute between April and October 2022. I must admit it was the most beneficial knowledge I have ever gained within a short time at an accelerated pace. All the knowledge that I received during my time there played a significant role in shaping my current capabilities. Furthermore, the mentorship program that followed the course provided me with the necessary skills to increase my confidence during interviews. As a result of the experiences that I garnered, I am delighted to confirm that I was able to secure the position of Network Systems Engineer in February 2023.
DI: What advice will you share with our current students?
Silvester: My advice for present Darko Institute students is never to surrender, be aware of your reasons for undertaking the program and be prepared to acquire knowledge with no excuses.
